Cradlespeak
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026
The short version
There is no account. You never tell us your name. Your lessons, your progress, your recordings and your books live on your own devices and are never uploaded to us. We receive what is needed to sell you something and to run the optional AI features — and nothing else.
This policy covers the Cradlespeak website at cradlespeak.com, the Cradlespeak Android application, and the Cradlespeak platform server that handles purchases. The person responsible for this data is Cradlespeak, reachable at support@cradlespeak.com.
Why there is so little to collect
Cradlespeak is built so that the app on your device is the whole product. It carries its own engine and its own copy of your content, so it does not need to send your learning anywhere to work. That is an architectural decision, not a promise we are asking you to take on trust: the app functions with no network connection at all.
You are identified to us by a key your device generates for itself — a public key and a 16-character identifier. It is not derived from your name, your email, your phone, or any hardware serial. We have no way to turn it into a person.
What we receive
When you buy something
- Your device's public key and identifier.
- A one-way hash for each device you activate a purchase on, so we can enforce the device limit.
- What you bought, what it cost, a payment reference from our payment processor, your unlock codes, and whether it has been refunded.
- Your prepaid balance, if you have one.
We never see your card. Payment details are collected and stored by Paddle, our payment processor and the merchant of record for every sale. They do not pass them to us.
If you ask us to send you an unlock code
You may ask for a code by email or text message. In that case we receive the address or number you typed, and use it for that purpose. If you would rather not give us either, the code is shown on screen instead — that path involves no contact details at all.
If you use the optional AI features
Some features — generating a lesson on demand, transcribing something you recorded, generating an image — require a large AI model that cannot run on a phone. These are always optional, always started by you, and always priced before you confirm.
When you use one, the content of that request travels through our server to a third-party AI provider and the result comes back. For transcription, that content is the audio you recorded. We keep a record of the cost and which model ran, so your balance is accurate. If you never use these features, none of your content ever reaches our server.
If you sign up on this website
The launch-notification form on the homepage stores the email address or phone number you enter, on our web host, so we can send you one message when Cradlespeak opens. Nothing else is done with it.
Our server's logs
Our servers keep ordinary technical logs of requests — IP address, time, path, response code — which is how any server is operated and debugged. They are not used to build a profile of you.
What we never receive
- Your name — there is no account and no signup.
- Your progress — what you have studied, your scores, your review schedule.
- Your recordings, unless you specifically use the cloud transcription feature described above.
- The books, comics or podcasts you bring in through Native Gateway, or anything derived from them.
- Your backups. These go to your own Google Drive or your own USB drive, deliberately, so that we are never holding your library.
- Anything you author — lessons, notes, summaries you write yourself — unless you deliberately submit it to the marketplace.
There is no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier, and no third-party tracker in the Android app. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Who else touches it
These are the only outside companies involved, and only for what is listed:
| Who | What for | What they get |
|---|---|---|
| Paddle | Payments; merchant of record | Your payment details and billing country |
| Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter | The optional AI features | The content of that one request |
| Twilio | Text messages | Your phone number, if you gave one |
| Brevo | Email delivery | Your email address, if you gave one |
| DigitalOcean | Hosting the platform server | Whatever is stored there, as infrastructure |
| Hostinger | Hosting this website | Website signups and web logs |
How long it is kept
- Purchase records — kept as long as the purchase is valid, because they are what proves you own it, and afterwards as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- AI request content — not stored by us after the request completes. Only the cost record remains. Providers keep their own logs under their own policies.
- Contact details for codes — kept with the purchase record.
- Website signups — deleted once the launch message has gone out, or when you ask.
- Server logs — kept for a short operational period and then rotated away.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including the UK and the European Economic Area under the GDPR, and California under the CCPA — you may have the right to see what we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, receive a copy, or object to how it is used. We extend these rights to everyone, wherever you are, because maintaining two standards would be worse than meeting the higher one.
Write to support@cradlespeak.com and we will respond within 30 days. Two honest caveats:
- To find your records we need your device identifier, since that is the only thing your data is filed under. The app shows it in Settings.
- We cannot delete a purchase record while the purchase is still active without also destroying your proof of ownership. Ask us to delete it and we will explain the consequence before doing anything.
Our legal bases for processing, where that concept applies, are: contract for purchases and unlock codes, consent for website signups and each AI request you start, and legitimate interest for security logs and preventing a purchase being shared beyond its device limit.
Children
Cradlespeak is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. A parent may of course let a child learn on their device — the app itself asks for nothing about who is using it. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will remove it.
Where data is processed
Our server is in the United States. The companies listed above operate internationally, so your data may be processed outside your country, under the standard contractual protections those providers offer.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top changes and we will say what changed. We will not quietly start collecting something new.
